At Soma Moves you can follow movement lessons that will help address the tension and pain. Soma Moves is an abbreviation of Somatic Movement, also known as Somatics.
Soma is Greek for body. It is not just the body, it means experiencing the body from the inside, while approaching and treating the body as a whole.
Somatics is therefore a holistic movement therapy.
Movement is to move. Everyday we move to greater or lesser extent. There’s no escaping that.
How we move and how we move throught life is what’s important.
Our body has more than 600 muscles. Our muscles have a basic tension. This tension helps us to stay upright and not collapse like a pudding.
The challenges of everyday life can cause stress and tension. All these tensions and stress can lead to increased tension in our muscles and parts of our body.
Emotions and traumas can also settle in our body. This can all lead to stiffness and reduced ability to move. Through compensatory behavior we can give ourselves a wrong posture. This can lead to all kinds of complaints and even chronic pain.
